The greatest obstacle is being nervous about not
being able to make a confident presentation. You are not nervous of things you can
do Imagine a TV reporter turning his camera towards you, pointing
a microphone at you and asking an impertinent question. Would that give you a
sinking feeling? Would your mouth be dry and your voice hoarse? Or does it take
even less than that? Making a public presentation can give most people
sleepless nights and butterflies in their stomach. Why is that? The answer is
simple. Because most people are nervous about things they cannot do. And this
is something most people cannot do. Some people have a natural ability to stand
up and make a clever and inspired presentation. But this is a rare natural
talent. A confident approach is not something people are born with. It is
something you learn on a seminar. After that, when you can do it, there is
nothing to be nervous about. It only takes 3 days to vanquish most of the
"butterflies" Doubting your own abilities is one of the things
that often impedes an otherwise good presentation. This is unnecessary because
most of the barriers are easy to identify and eliminate. Confidence is not
always an inborn trait, but can be built up through training and experience.
TMI's techniques give you the necessary confidence. The end result is not an
icy calm. That would be an illusion. A couple of butterflies in your stomach
won't do any harm. But they should not be fluttering about wildly, but fly in
the same direction. Your energy should be used in a positive way. Your
confidence needs to be built up, so that situations are seen and assessed in a
realistic light. Your imagination will have a free rein, and you will not hold
things back for fear of making mistakes. Decide what you want to say and tie it together
logically Instead of filling up your wastepaper basket with all
manner of thoughts and ideas, you can learn to goal-direct your preparation.
All communication should take the audience into consideration. They should be
able to follow you all the way. By means of a few simple techniques, you can
prepare a presentation with a logical thought sequence. You will learn to
impart body, logic and life to your presentation. And you will know how to
handle questions and objections from the audience. |
