The Time Manager® Story
Synopsis
The Time Manager® was created in 1975 as the world's first results tool. It is designed to help people of all walks of life to be more effective and achieve more. Below is the story of how it was created.

Once upon a time there was a very ordinary man who was always very busy. He was always tired when he returned home from work and spent too little time with his wife and small son.

He would get furious about things like being beaten at the traffic lights. At home, he often fell asleep in front of the television. He only had time to read short bed-time stories to his son.

When he was away on business he looked forward to returning to his family. But when he got back, he was too tired to enjoy being with them.

He kept saying, "As soon as we have more time, we shall really enjoy life. When we buy a new house, and I get a new job, then we shall ... and, if only things had been different, we could really ..."

He never had time to enjoy life right now, but thought that happiness was always just around the corner - although he had no clear idea of what happiness for him and his family was really like. He was very concerned about rising prices, his colleagues' unsympathetic attitude, today's unbearable kids, flight delays and other irritations. One day his wife decided that she had had enough. She had an interesting job which she enjoyed. She could not understand why they shouldn't enjoy life right now. She saw lots of opportunities. So she said, "I'm too young to have a husband who falls asleep in front of the television every night. This is your last chance. Either we get divorced or we start planning a better life."

So husband and wife started imagining the rest of their lives as a feature film with themselves as the stars in the main roles.

They asked each other, "How can we make a special feature film? What could the main characters be like? What is to happen to them? Who else should be in the film? Where should the film take place? How should the main characters pass their time? Alone? Together? With others? How should they spend their weekends - their holidays - their evenings - their mornings - their working hours?

It soon dawned on them that there was a tremendous difference between the "film" they had acted in for the past ten years and the ideal "life film" that they really wanted to be part of in the future. They decided to write their life script together. They wrote this script in a small book.

After a while, they began telling other people what they had done. Many of them also wanted to improve their lives and were interested in making their own life scripts. The husband started lecturing on the script that he and his wife had made.

Many people enjoyed these lectures because they felt they were about themselves. Husband and wife developed the script into a "results tool" which they called a Time Manager® (someone that can manage time and life). In 1975 they started manufacturing the first of the small books.

The original lecture developed into a course for all who were interested in getting more out of their time. Already in 1976 it was the most popular course in Denmark. Time Manager® soon expanded to the rest of Scandinavia and became the leading course there, too. Since then, Time Manager® has swept across a vast number of countries all over the world.

Time Manager® has changed many people's lives. It developed into far more than just a small book with dividers and forms. It became a way of life. The original concept has led to the development of a unique and innovative range of products used today by well over one million people world-wide.
