International car manufacturer creates blueprint for Leadership Development

One of the leading car manufacturers in the world, with over 300,000 employees worldwide and 22,000 in Germany alone had a critical business need to create a clear and consistent leadership approach across Europe, during a challenging time for the organisation and the industry overall.

TMI were engaged to design and deliver a timely, contemporary and inspirational leadership development learning journey for Managers and Leaders in Germany, United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands, Hungary, Portugal, Sweden, Italy, Spain and Greece.

TMI developed a modular solution of three unique leadership development programmes, with additional ‘satellite’ workshops and project-based assignments and initiatives in between to practice and embed know-how, new skills, tools and techniques.

‘Leadership 1’ focused on leadership roles, values and change management approaches in the context of the corporate vision and values, and changes in strategy.

‘Leadership 2’ honed in on the role of manager as trainer, coach and team leader, leadership styles and their effective use.

‘Leadership 3’ addressed performance management know-how, skills and techniques at individual and team levels.

The ‘Leadership 1-2-3’ programme became the blueprint for leadership development for the entire mid-management of the organisation across Europe.

Over 3,000 managers were trained by TMI, developing a shared understanding of the organisational vision and values – and critically, how to translate and apply these in their daily work. As a result of the inspirational and comprehensive learning experience, Managers were able to successfully apply new ways to create and maintain positive motivation and performance in the face of a very difficult market situation.
